Explain what Coach Betty Bright means when she says, "There's no way this team can beat you. You can only beat yourselves."

i think coach brite means that she knows that their team is better but if they dont play their best then they will be letting the other team beat them.
I think thatshe meant that no one can ever hurt you. You can only hurt yourself as in nobody can push down your pride only if you let them. she also probalby meant that the have nothing on you guys you're strong and good. Now go out and kick some butt.
she means that if you let your hopes down than youve let yourself down making you valnerable.because you think you cant beat them but you really can you just have to believe.
I think that when coach Bright says that she means that they can beat their opponents with ease as long as they don't get overconfident or they don't start getting penalties called on them.
I belive that Betty Bright meant to say that the other team cant let you down only you can let yourself down. By letting yourself down you let everyone else around you down. So in other words no one else can make you feel bad but you. Which also means try your best and dont give up at what you are aiming for.
Honestly I think that the coach means your letting them take the win by thinking they would win,as if to say you should be confident that the win is yours no mater what and that no one can take that away
I think that sentence means that no team can beat you if you try your hardest. If you do not try your hardest they will beat you. No one can take out the pride in you unless if YOU let them. =D

J Ordway, I think what you were mostly right except for the other team letting yourself down part. I believe its more of that they only beat you because your willing to let yourself down.
I think that coach ment that the team they were playing couldn't beat them, but if the Tangerine players psyched themselved out and didn't play as hard as they could, they would lose.
I think coach Betty Bright means that they are a good team and no team should be able to beat them except them by messing up or jerking off in school and practice.
I think the Charactor that i am most like is Paul. I think i am most Paul because i would do anything just to play the sport i love. Although i dont play socccer i do play softball. And i would just do anything to play it. Even if it ment switching to a rival school. We are also alike because i try to be perfect and and if i dont do well or mess up on something big i would throw a fit or get very upset with myself.
I have heard many coaches and players say this before. Most games are won by the player or team that scores the most runs, goals, or points. The only way I can see a team or player beating themselves is in games that permit the movement both ways on the field of play. In the game of baseball, for example, it is not possible to beat yourself because you can't score a run for the other team. In football, soccer and hockey you can beat yourself by scoring goals for the other team. This hardly ever happens because coaches are always warning players not to beat themselves.
