Are athletes above the law?
Athletes are paid an extremely high salary to perform a job that allows them to play a game. Sometimes these athletes make poor choices on and off the field, causing them to get into trouble. How do you feel about athletes that do the wrong thing, but are still allowed to play their sport with only facing minor consequences. If Erik was in the NFL, and he had stolen jewelry and helped kill someone, should he still be allowed to play? Would you want your favorite player to still be allowed to play if he committed the crimes that Erik did?

If Erik stole the jewlery and helped kill someone, i dont think that he should be able to play the sport. It would not be fair to the other players. And if Jennifer Fintch who is my favorite sports player did what Erik did and helped commmit a crime i would think that she would have a consoquence of jail. She should have a life time sentence. Killing is wrong and i also think that erik should go to jail because he helpes with this crime.
athletes are not above the law because they are people like us but with more money and bigger house. they are just doing a job
I think athletes are above the law a little bit.Some atheletes get in to a little trouble but they can still play but if it is somting big like killing some one they will get kick of the team.So realy they are and arn't above the law.
I think no Erik should not be able to play in a football if he commited this crime,championship or not.If it were my favorite football player Randy Moss, and commited these crimes he should be suspended from the league one or two seasons, but still be able to come back and play.Also fined to come back.
I think athletes are not above the law because befor they played that sport they were just normal people but now they get payed if erik commited those crimes and was in the NFL I would send him to jail then band him from playing football in the NFL again
If Erik was in the NFL and he stole jewelry and hellped kill someone I dont think he should be allowed to continue playing because if someone steals or kills someone they usually go to jail. If my favorite player committed the crimes Erik had committed, no I wouldnt want him to still be allowed to play because my favorite player is my role model, and I dont want my role model killing people and stealing jewelry.
I dissagree with A.Marshall they should not be able to play football period. Just like OJ simpson they should be in jail and go to court and be guilty for murder & stealing
I would say yes because if that pearson likes the sport then I think that they need a seacond chanse to shine or blow.and some of the peapole might not like the sport any more because there favriet player is not playing also this wouldent be good for the coach cause they might lose there gob.so thats why i would still let them play.
No,I would not let any player play and I would fied him/her.I would also tell the police to keep him/her in jail.
No, Athletes should not be over the law because superstar athletes are just people with a certain ability to do something better than some one else. Like with Adam "Pacman" Jones was also accused of being in the middle of a murder but that should not have happened. Every one is good at something in life because maybe teachers are smarter than football players. Everybody has a certain talent and maybe somebody is better than you at something but in the end your better than them at something too
I would not want my favorite football player because he broke the law and he can not just get off the hook becuase he is a superstar.

No I don't think that athletes. When playing on the PMS soccer team one player stole from a store and was taken off the team. Another player was involed in a fight and was also taken off the team.
I agree with SBurns because when you think of it what happens if Brian Westbrook and Donovan McNabb commit the same crime as Erik they should go to jail and there would be no doubt that it would be a lifetime sentence. Superstars should not get the easy way through life even though they are paid high and get good money. Honestly I think superstars are overrated.

No they're not above the law. I would be mad that he did it and have him arested for theft. also he helped kill someone and thats murder.
if erik did do that stuff and he was famous, then i dont think that erik should be able to play sports at all. i would put him in jail for a long time and make him pay a huge fee!haha, i hate erik, and aurther, they make me soooooo mad! but it was funny in the story when paul stood up to both of them and paul wasnt scared at all!! i agree with sam because killing is probably the worst crime ever.even if erik was the best player ever he shouldn't be given the chance to play again.also like what sam said a life time sentence should be given to erik
Aheletes should not be above the law for the crimes they commited. It shouldn't matter who you are you should get the same punishment that anyone else would get.
I don't agree with Anwar about suspensions. If someone has killed someone and stolen from people he should NEVER be allowed back. He should spend the same exact jail time as a normal person would.
maybe because it depends on what he did if it was something like blowing something up or killing like couple people but if was like fighting or bar fight or something sports stars do so it would depend on what he/she did
I think aletes are not above the law becuse they are just reguler people and even thogh some are famous they all be like us and they have to listen to the law too.
If Erik stole jewlery and killed someone I would kick him off the team first thing when I hear about it. I wouldn't make any acceptions. I would also kick off Arthur Bauer since he helped with the crime. They both should be thrown in jail.
If I were to choose then I would say that athletes should not be above the law. If I was able to then I would put Erik and Arthur in jail. That is my opinion.
If my favorite NFL star stole jewelry and helped kill someone, thye'd get thrown in jail. They can only exceed the law so far.
No,athletes are not,above the law.They are just like all of us and they have to obey the law just like us.This is because they are just normal people who just happen to excel in playing that certain sport.So they dont desevre any special thing where they dont have to obey the law while everybody else has to.
If my favroite player on a team was the star and I found out he was stealing I would of let him get it if I was his dad I wouldn't let him get any playing time at all. I would make him run until he can't run no more.Then after he got another breather I would make him run some more then I would make him practice just so he could sit on the bench.I would send him to all of the house's he stole from whith Arthur
Athletes are not above the law. They're just people who have special skills in sports and get paid more and are famous. They're people just like us, so they have to follow rules/laws too. No Erik shouldn't be allowed to play still, are you kidding me?!?! No I wouldn't let my star player still play cause that would bring a bad rep for the whole team, plus me!

if erik stole stole the jewlry, then he shoukd not be able to play in any physical activity. in anny other city, if you kill or help kill someone then you should go to jail. thats what i think. killing is a huge fellony and it is very hard to get out of that. i think that the city should be torn down. it has no historical resemblance and there are allot of killings,gangs, and karate kickers. because he helped kill luis, he should go to jail for 15 yeaqrs then put into a mental in a mental instution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I do not thiknk that atheletes are above the law because they are people. Thats like saying that a multi-million movie star can go around shooting people, stealing, and doing a whole bunch of other crimes and not get in trouble because of the money the make. Its the same thing exept movie stars are not atheletes. The main thing is that people are people wether living in a box or living in a 50-story mansion. We need respect. And believe it or not, punishment is respect.

I think that athletes are not above law because they are average people with alot more money than other people.But if someone such as Michael Vick with the bulldogs.Should get punished instead of a seecond chance.Like Erik Fisher getting another second chance.
I feel that they should not be able to get special treatment and only do half or none of what they should get because they are professional athletes. A crime is a crime, either way,and no one should be allowed to get a get out of jail free card because they are athletes.
oh jeez! Athletes should not be above the law i dont care what anyone says!!! Its just not right! How come they can get away with everything but the average person would face major consequences! Things like that just dont make any sense! If my favorite football player was charged with weapon possession THEN SO BE IT!! If you get in trouble every one no matter who you are should face the consequences!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that the athletes of any sport aren't above the law (maybe a little). I would kick the person off the team or if I were a school coach, I would suspend/expell them and deny them the permission to rejoin the team.
Athletes are normal people just like us. But they get paid to lose just like they get paid to win. I dont think that there should be any exceptions for them. The law is the law and no one is above it. Not even the president.Erik was involed in two crimes in the NFL they probally would just bench him. So there isnt really any true punishment there. So that means they are just going to let him by and that isnt fair. If someone random did that and wasnt a star they would go to jail. So he would deserve to be treated like everyone else and get to go to jail.
I THINK PROFESSIONAL FOOTBAL PLAYERS OR ANY PLAYER SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PLAY. BUT IT REALLY DEPENDS ON HOW BAD IT WAS. AND I KNOW EVERY ONE ISNT PERFECT. SOO I DONT REALLY NO ABOUT THAT QUESTION. BUT YEA THEY SHOULD BE BAND FROM THE BENCH
i think that athletes make bad choices all that time and that they get second chances all the time.i think Eric deserves a second chance.
